The meeting will take place during 11-17 September 2008 in both Greece and Turkey. We plan to start with registration and a welcoming event in the Hotel Rhodos Palace on Wednesday 10 September 2008 in the evening. We will then have two-and-a-half full days of working sessions starting early on Thursday 11/9/08 and ending at noon on Saturday 13/9/08. Subsequently, we all take the boat and move accros to Marmaris on the Turkish coast that lies about 20 nautical miles from the city of Rhodos. Buses will wait for us and take us to the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics (ITAP) where the meeting will continue on Monday. On Sunday we will go on an excursion. The final two-and-a-half days of the meeting will start on Monday 15/9/08 and will end on Wednesday 17/9/08. Participants who came from Rhodos will go back to Rhodos by boat.

The boat service runs daily departing from Rhodos at 8:00 and 16:00 and from Marmaris at 9:00 and 16:00. The round trip ticket costs approximately 75 Euros. Exact prices that include the boat prices and the visa prices (when needed) will be posted later.

Rhodos

In Rhodos the meeting will take place at the University of the Aegean that is in the city center. Participans will stay at various hotels in the city of Rhodos. We have secured a number of hotels are reasonable (conference) prices. Please make your reservations by contacting directly these or other hotels. If you contact the hotels below please specify that you are with the conference so that you receive the discounted rate. The reservations need to take place as soon as possible.

Marmaris

In Marmaris the meeting will take place in in the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics) (ITAP) where most of the participants will be accomodated. The full board price for a double room in ITAP is 140 Euros (70 Euros per participant). Please contact the Turkish organizers at hakioglu@bilkent.edu.tr or ugur.tirnakli@ege.edu.tr . They will take care the reservations in Marmaris.

Finacial Assistance

The Greek-Turkish conference we are planing to organize is unique in its aim to try to bring together scientist from our two countries as well as other researchers from regional countries and beyond. We are searching vigorously for funds that will sponsor the meeting. Depending on our success we plan to offer some financial assistance.

Accomodation and reservations

Hotel reservations for Rhodos are done individually while for Marmaris through the Turkish organizers. The meeting in Rhodos will be in the general downtown area and thus any hotel in this area will be adequate.

Social Events at ITAP

1) Cultural and historical trip to Western Anatolia: 14/September/2008 We depart from ITAP at 8:30 in the morning for a day trip to see certain important cultural and historical sites within reach (tentatively including EPHESUS). The trip is free of charge as a courtesy of the Institute. If we are lucky we will be accompanied by an expert guide.

2) Concert on common musical teams between Turkish and the Greek culture : 15/September/2008 evening at ITAP. In this concert we will be enchanted by three Yildiz Technical University Conservatory musicians by Esra Berkman (kanun), Ozgur Ozbilen (vocal, bendir) and Georgios Marinakis (vocal, oud) performing common songs in two languages. The concert is a courtesy of ITAP with free entrance.

3) Welcome coctail: Immediately after the concert on 15/September/2008 at ITAP. The coctail is a courtesy of the Institute.
